  • I joined the Elkhorn High School staff in 2004. Prior to that, I taught at Arnold Public Schools for 3 years, worked as an accountant for a medical clinic for 2 years, and taught at Wahoo High School for 9 years.

  • I attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education in Family and Consumer Science with an endorsement in Biological Sciences.  I earned my Master’s Degree from Peru State College in Information Technology in Education.

Experience

  • I am currently in my eleventh year at Elkhorn High School. I began my teaching experiences in the FCS department before moving into the role of a part-time School to Career Coordinator.  In this position, I coordinate the Career Internship and Teacher Cadet Program.  I organized the Junior Job Shadowing Experience at EHS for eight years.  After earning my master’s degree, I began teaching information technology classes in the Business department.
  • I began my teaching career at Scribner-Snyder, a small Class D School, There, I taught many Family and Consumer Science Classes as well as Biology.  I was also the FCCLA Advisor and a Volleyball Coach (Junior High Head Coach – Assistant High School Coach – if a girl played volleyball, I coached them)

Fun Facts

  • My husband is Dan Mowinkel and he is a teacher and coach at Logan View High School, a Class C school located north of Fremont.  Dan teaches agriculture education classes, coaches wrestling at the high school level, and advises a FFA chapter.
  • We have two children – Danielle and Derek.  Dani attends the University of Nebraska-Kearney majoring in Science Education and playing softball for the Lopers.  Derek is a freshman at UNK.  He has interests in football, wrestling, golf, and Legion Baseball.  Our family loves sports so I have spent many years as a mother cheering from the stands.  We also enjoy raising and showing 4-H and FFA sheep, cattle and swine.  Since my children are grown, I “baby” my Shish Tzu puppies.

Accounting I
